Looks like Bens uncle Ricky did a thorough job.

I do that every fall with our potted plants from the previous summer. Makes a good pile of potting soil in the spring.

Will make a great start to compost.

My little dog was so happy to have his feet on the ground outside and walk around with his neck brace on last week. But the vet was agast, appalled, shuddered, and the dog has had inside rest this week and tomorrow we go to the doctor again and then maybe two more weeks or more. Poor little guy. I hope it works out. He tries so hard with his exercises, etc. but the doctor did not think surgery would have necessarily been any better. 50-50 either way. We'll see, one day at a time. The dog loves rotissary chicken when he can get it - his strength has to be up.

John,

I've been following Bigelow Brook Farm, a DIYer you might find interesting. He built a pretty good size geodesic dome greenhouse and added a rocket mass heater to help him keep his
Aquaponic system going through the cold winters. I know that wood is not an option as it's not a natural resource in texas, but a pellet rocket mass heater might just trick your greenhouse during the colder months.

There is a dome place in Brewster County-Terlingua. They are from Oklahoma. They work well in the wind and are relatively inexpensive and are strong.

Well, the little fellow dog is going to be in his neck brace and doing exercises for another 2 and probably 3 or more months but he is improving. Rest, good food, and exercises, no walking around-just dog house with pain Meds.

Margery sorry to hear more time for your dog's recovery. I fell down the stairs in the house a week ago, broken left arm, shoulder & clavicle. Just call me one handed and get out of my way... No not really, but I am lucky to be alive.

Wow, you really cleaned that all up. Did you do it all by hand, or did you get some heavy machinery to help you out? I know that when we redid our backyard, I rented a backhoe to dig out flowerbeds, and it saved both my back and my mind from giving out. Totally worth the extra expense.
