From Bernadette Devine, Terlingua School
For our geography project this year, our Second and Third Grade students are hoping that YOU will send us a postcard - from your own town AND from any place(s) you visit.

Please write one or two legible sentences about the location, appropriate to 8-9 year old students. Interesting facts or observations are encouraged.

Whether you're in a state capitol, your backyard, a foreign country, a national park, visiting relatives or friends, fueling up at a truck stop, enjoying a museum or rodeo or carnival, or on your way to see the Home of the World's Largest Ball of Twine, we want to hear from you!

Feel free to share/invite others to this event.

Mail your postcard to:

The google earth ground level image from 3-2013 has a lot less mailboxes(approx 20 less to the right) than today's image. Seems like a bucket-0-concrete is easier than using post hole diggers(saw a few pictures of how you drill prior to digging)... I will try to locate a postcard and send it to them(haven't bought a postcard since my Navy days). If my printer had ink, I'd get one of my hundred's of thousands of pictures I have taken over the last 10+ years or so. I average a few hundred each day when I am out. Great idea the teacher has. You posting it should drum up many locations for them.

Omg, mailbox row has grown. Someone here just came back from the five K's (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, etc.) and has hundreds of pictures. I would like to send one but will not because I do not have a printer. Dogs from the Houston flood are coming over to San Antonio with dog Influenza. I think my dogs are o.k. here right now. Most are not vaccinated for it. I had a bird named Enza. In flew Enza. In flew Enza. In l918, over half a million people died in the U.S. from Influenza and millions died internationally.

Small world Margery. Strange you should mention the 1918 Flu - because my grandfather (on my fathers side) died during that terrible occurrence of flu. And left my father as a young child without a father.. But my grandmother fixed that - and promptly remarried. However that fellow also died a natural death - and that was also before I was born. Then my grandmother married a long lived fellow - an Austrian imagrent - the only grandfather I ever knew - and he lived longer than my grandmother did. My mother's father also died of the flu - but several years later, but before I was born. Flu was certainly much more of a killer diseas before the medical profession learned to how to combat it.
